Who runs this site
Niseko Guide is a personal project run by Luis Reid in Niseko, Hokkaido. It does not sell your information, show advertising, or take payments.
Browsing the site
No account is needed. Your saved places, day plan, language and season choice are stored only in your own browser and are never sent to us.
"Near me" sorting uses your device location only inside your browser, and only if you allow it. It is not sent to us.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It records the pages you view, your approximate location, and your device and browser type, using cookies. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Lesson enquiry form
If you send an enquiry, we collect your name, email, optional phone or WhatsApp number, lesson dates, group size, ability level, preferred language and resort, and any message you write.
These details are used only to put you in touch with an instructor and arrange your lesson. They are emailed to us through our email provider (Resend) and are not stored in a database on this website. With your consent, they are shared with the certified instructor or ski school assigned to your lesson, who handles booking, payment and invoicing.
We keep enquiry emails only as long as needed to arrange and follow up your lesson, and delete them after the season ends.
The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, which checks technical information about your browser and connection.
Services that receive technical data
Loading any website shares your IP address and browser details with the services that deliver it. For this site those are Cloudflare (security and delivery), Railway (hosting, with short-term server logs), Google (analytics, fonts and place photos) and our map tile provider (OpenStreetMap-based maps).
Some of these services are based in the United States, so your information may be processed outside Japan.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Clearing your browser data removes saved places and your plan.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
